Records & Evidence

The Records department is staffed Monday through Friday, 7AM to 5PM by Records Coordinator Jill Drury and Evidence Coordinator Shawna Bailey.

The responsibilities of the Records Department include:

  • Filing and storage of police reports.
  • Providing copies of reports to the public, DA's office and other interested parties.
  • Entering and clearing arrest warrants.
  • Storing evidence and maintaining a "chain of custody" on all stored items.
  • Releasing evidence to the public when no longer required.
  • Entering and filing the required reports to various County, State & Federal agencies. 
  • Storing and controlling all "lost and found items."
  • Organizing the yearly auction of unclaimed items.
  • Counter reception has many visitors every day with business that can't be handled over the phone such as picking up report copies, bringing in evidence or paperwork, requesting fingerprints, requesting to talk to an officer or investigator, registering bicycles, picking up impounded vehicles/dogs, etc..

Requests for copies of a police report are usually handled within 24 business hours providing the report is cleared for release. Ongoing investigations and reports not yet approved by the chain of command will not be released.

There will be a copy fee of $25 for each requested record, and $50 per audio recording (including 911 calls). Payment must be received prior to release. We cannot accept faxed requests or electronically submitted requests at this time. All reports must be made payable by check or cash and paid for at the Finance desk @ City Hall, prior to release.
