Investigations / Narcotics

The Cottage Grove Police Department Investigation Division is staffed by 1 Detective assigned to the investigations unit. These positions are assignments with a duration of two to three years.

Cottage Grove Police Department Investigation Division is tasked with investigating all major crimes, all crime requiring special attention and/or lengthy investigation, and scene processing/photography. Criminal investigations concerning the possession, manufacture and delivery of controlled substances (narcotics) are also the responsibility of the Investigations Unit.

Also included in the Investigation Division is the SRO (School Resource Officer). The SRO works closely with the Investigation Division to resolve issues arising in the South Lane School District. 

In addition, Cottage Grove Police Department Investigator’s are members of the Lane County Interagency Deadly Force Investigations Team (IDFIT).  The IDFIT Team conducts criminal investigations, to ascertain the presence or absence of criminal activity as a result of the use of deadly physical force by the officer, or to determine the presence of criminal activity by any person associated with the incident.

The Investigation Division is also tasked with monitoring the Cottage Grove Police Department Anonymous Tip Line (541) 767-0504. This line provides for confidential reporting of public safety issues or concerns.
