JoJo 2003 - 2011
Yox Len-Mar "JoJo" (pronounced yo-yo) Served 2003 to 2011
In July of 2003, Yox Len-Mar "JoJo" (pronounced yo-yo) became Cottage Grove's newest Police Service Dog. His first night on patrol with Cottage Grove Police Department's newest K9 Handler, Officer Chris Joyce, was July 15th. JoJo was born on February 19th, 2002 in Slovakia. JoJo was trained to Sch 1 Title, and then sold to Adlerhost International, where the Cottage Grove Police Department purchased him.
Officer Joyce and JoJo were trained by retired Police Sergeant Alan Carlson from Springfield, Oregon. As mentioned earlier, Al Carlson has over twenty years of experience dealing with police K9's, both as a handler and a trainer. On July 11th, 2003 Officer Joyce and JoJo were certified as a K9 team. Officer Joyce and JoJo will continue their formal training with K9 teams from Springfield Police Department and Eugene Police Department. The new team will also train daily in different areas around the City of Cottage Grove to remain proficient. Officer Joyce looks forward to several years of successful service with K9 JoJo.
In July of 2011, K9 JoJo retired from service with the Cottage Grove Police Department and is currently enjoying retired life with Officer Joyce and his Family.
