Councilor Alex Dreher

Alex Dreher was unanimously appointed by the Mayor and City Council to fill the vacant Councilor At Large position in January 2023.

Councilor Dreher has dedicated her career to service for the community. She served 3 years in the U.S. Peace Corps in Azerbaijan where she taught English and worked on community development projects. She has worked for state & local governments, as well as nonprofits that focus on civic engagement. 

She is honored to serve her community and work to ensure Cottage Grove continues to thrive for working families like hers. She focuses on the real work of the Council, addressing the pressing issues of our time; including housing, economic recovery from the collective trauma of the pandemic, and resiliency in the face of natural disasters. 

Councilor Dreher is actively a part of Be Your Best, an organization that brings people in South Lane County together to address the social determinants of health. She volunteers for United Way of Lane County. 

Her professional background is in macro social work, grant administration, and community development. She is passionate about civic engagement and the power that people have when they unite and work together. 

She currently manages federal and state grants at Lane County.
