Swinging Bridge Closed
The Swinging Bridge is Closed to All Use
As a part of the routine inspections of bridges within the City. OBEC Consulting Engineers inspected the Swinging Bridge and returned a recommendation that the bridge be closed immediately until some significant repairs can be made on the bridge. The engineers have concluded the vertical supports have extensive decay and the bridge cannot support pedestrian traffic and there is the potential for catastrophic failure without warning.
City crews have closed the bridge and posted warning signs. Additional signs will be posted. Anyone caught trespassing on the bridge will be subject to prosecution.
Please call 911 to report anyone on the bridge.
We apologize for the inconvenience and understand that the bridge is used very regularly. We are exploring options to get the bridge repaired quickly and reopened for use.
